Housed upstairs in the
library, the genealogy room is where one will find the story of
Harrison County's past. Perusers can reference family histories,
genealogies, and cemetery records. Patrons can reminisce about
their youthful memories with our collection of high school yearbooks
from Clay District High School and Shinnston High School dating from
1911 through 1978. Also included in the collection are histories
of area churches, fraternal organizations, and communities around the
county. For those with interests in statistics, a census data
index is available for use.
In addition, books about West Virginia such as Comstock can be found in the
Genealogy room as well as stories from local authors. Other
services offered in the genealogy room include family tree
mapping. Beverly Paushel, the new curator of the genealogy room,
will be
available by appointment to assist patrons with family tree
mapping. Please call (304) 592-1700 to schedule an appointment.
